Class response

In English we are watching TV show episodes and doing Socratic seminars afterwards to discuss different topics. Recently We just did  psychoanalysis Within American Horror Story. The Episode we watched was Anne Frank. I don't really see what psychoanalysis has to do with English so i'm having a hard time wanting to participating. First we go over the topic for the week then we watch the episode and the next day we prepare and usually on Fridays we do the Socratic seminar. I don't think we need a day to prepare because its not like it makes a difference when were doing the seminar. Inside of American Horror Story the boy Kit represses killing his girlfriend because he didn't' remember what happened and what he did remember he thought it was aliens. Doctor Kupor represents apart of psychoanalysis because he is obsessed death. He experiments with patients and his experiments cause his patients to live forever. Also in other episodes of  American Horror Story he is fond of one of the nuns at the facility and she influenced some of his sexual acts and actions which goes with Sigmund Freud theory. I missed Monday I missed the Socratic seminar  
on Monday So have to now write an essay but im not sure if i'm going to.

Free write

My free write is going to be about The Walking Dead. Around last summer I started watching the Walking Dead because everybody was talking about and I wanted to see what the hype was all about. So one day AMC was having a marathon so I thought it would have been the perfect time to start watching and ever since then I've been hooked! The Walking Dead TV show is about like the world having an epidemic of zombies that killed a lot people. The people who survived go through a lot while trying to stay alive because they have Walkers (zombies) and Humans trying to kill them. The only character I don't like is The Governor from last season because he is crazy and has a vendetta against Rick (one of the main characters) and Mischone (another main character). Before the Govner dies he goes to "War" with Rick's group and they live in the prison which has been their only stable home for a long time. During the war The Govner ruins the prison and kills people in ricks group.The Govner has been in the show for 3 seasons and I wish that they would just kill off his character and I got my prayers answered during the season 4 owhen the governor got killed I was so happy. But I was also sad because before the governor died he messed up the prison (the good people live in the prison) so now nobody can live there.One of the people The Govner killed was Hershel and he was a the level headed person of the group the foundation for everybody but now they don't have that person anymore. I like this show because it has a suspenseful and good story line. Season 5 Just recently went off season but the writers of the walking dead is supposed to be coming out with another show called The Fear of the Walking dead and I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BAM

Over the past month or so we have been working with an instructor from BAM in my English class.Sorry I can't not remember what what that stands for. Anyway our teachers name was McCray but asked us to call him WT and he was a nice guy. He taught us a few acting tricks and helped us prepare ourselves to preform excerpts from Midsummer Night Dream by William Shakespeare. We did exercises like Yosemite which is like Simon say but we used characters from the book to call out and action. We also did vocal exercises to warm up our voices to so that we could project them when preforming. My class preformed the Mechanicals part which the play within the play and I think we did pretty good. The other class did a scene where Lysander,Demetrius,Hermia and Helena were arguing. I really liked there's because the put an urban spin on it. When we visited BAM the building had cool structures and they feed us a lot of pizza and cupcakes which was nice. We also got the chance to play one last Yosemite with both classes put together and it was fun. When I entered Ms.Hegeman's English class I did not expect to be participating in an activity like Bam but I liked it.

Why Helping Others Makes Us Happy by Philip Moeller

In this article it talks about how volunteering gives people a boost of self esteem and self awareness. The article even talked about how even how volunteering boosted student’s grades and even lowered drug rates. I myself have had my fair share of volunteer experiences and I can say it does make a person feel better when they can help others but it takes a focused and driven person to continually volunteer and actually make a difference in a persons life.When I first started tutoring my next door neighbor, Brianna, I only saw it an obligation that took up a lot of my time. But as our tutoring sessions continued I realized that this 2^nd grader needed someone to care. At a time when her new baby brother had become the center of her family’s attention. From then I wanted to be there and wanted to take our sessions more seriously. Motivation is a huge part of giving back or volunteering because just being there physically doesn't mean you’re putting in your best efforts or making a real difference. I wanted to make a difference in this 2^nd grader’s academic and emotional life just like my principle had done for me. Although our sessions still took up a lot of my time I didn't mind because, they were no longer an obligation. I saw them as a friend helping a friend. My act of kindness towards Brianna allowed her to improve her reading skills, which made her happy that she wasn't struggling anymore. I agree with this article because when your able to help another person it lets you know that your in a place where you can either financially, intellectually, or physically help somebody be to a place where you are and it feels good.

Class Post

In Ms. Tomlins' class we have been given a budgeting project and its similar to the budgeting project I did with Capital One. This budgeting project is a little bit easier because she is explaining and teaching us about the thing that have to be included instead of just expecting me to know what a car deductible is. We have been given a month to complete this project and I feel that its enough time to finish it. This time around I have decided to work by myself because I know how much work goes into this type of project. I don't want to deal with my partner not producing work or the work they do produce is unusable and I end up having to fix all of it. By working alone I am saving myself the letdown of having to do all the work by myself while I have a partner. This way I still have to do all the work which I don't mind but I don't have to through the disappointment of a bad partner. For this project you have to pick a field to work in an I have chosen a market research analyst. I choose this job because I want to work in business but i'm not sure what aspect so I thought doing it in my project would allow me to get some insight on this aspect of business. I see other people work by there selves all the time and i'm just like why cant I do that. but its not like I cant do it I was always to lazy to work by myself.

Passion Blog

So in the 10th grade I was introduced to Farina and Spanish oatmeal by Fatoumanta Diallo. At first I was skeptical because it was only a dollar and it was sold in a janky corner but after I saw more and more people buying it i decided to get some and try it for myself. When I first got it I instantly fell in love with it and have purchased it many times since. I usually don't eat breakfast because it makes me nauseous and I have time in the morning to get it. One flaw about about this farina is that its sold at a corner store pass the school and I often find it hard to walk pass the school to walk down the block in the mornings.Farina is like Cream of Wheat but I don't seem to like cream of wheat as much as I like Farina, I think its the way the particularly store I get it from makes it. I once got it from a store close to my house but it was disgusting and a waste of $1.50 and it was more expensive. I also like porridge and regular oatmeal. Eating oatmeal reminds me of being a kid.

So this unit of English 12 began with poetry and I absolutely hate poetry. I hate it because I always have nothing to talk about. I've hated poetry since the 5th grade and every year since then I've gotten a lesson based on poetry. I was put at ease when I found out we weren't actually writing poetry but just reading and analyzing it. When I have a lesson I don't like it make is hard for me to understand and do the work that's given, but I do it anyway because everything counts towards my grade. But that lesson was last week and this week we are looking in to Shakespeare an his play hamlet. I don't mind this lesson because Shakespeare's plays are really interesting. I've only read two of his plays Othello and Romeo and Juliet, both of them were class assignments but I probably would have never read them on my own time. Yesterday we had to translate a conversation into Shakespeare's time period's language. It was pretty cool doing that. We also had a lesson on saying the different moods of O's I think we should have more interactive lessons like that to keep students engaged.
